This morning we will have our initial meet & greet with your guides and fellow travelers before hitting the road towards Yellowstone! Along this day’s journey, we will drive through portions of Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Today we will venture into Yellowstone National Park and enjoy a leisurely walk through geothermal areas filled with hot springs and geysers. We don’t like to push it too hard on the first day allowing for everyone to acclimate to the 8,000 ft. elevation. This evening we will enjoy dinner(included) and accommodations at the unique UnderCanvas Yellowstone Resort, which is perfectly situated just outside the park in West Yellowstone, Montana.
Driving time: 4.5 Hours to Yellowstone (additional driving inside the park)
Hiking: 1-2 miles +/- 200 feet elevation gain
Accommodation: UnderCanvas Yellowstone or similar in West Yellowstone, Montana
Today we have a great opportunity to explore lesser-visited areas of Yellowstone and offer some longer hiking options. After breakfast, we will enter the park and plan to hike roughly 6-8 miles on one of several amazing trails that provide either fantastic views or access to remote geothermal areas, including Old Faithful. Part of what makes Yellowstone so unique is the opportunity for wildlife viewing. As we drive, keep your eyes open for Bison, Elk, Moose, and possibly even spot a bear or two! After a jam-packed day in the park we will return to our eclectic ‘glamping’ accommodations and offer some recommendations for the evening in West Yellowstone to explore at your own leisure.
Driving time: 2-3 Hours
Hiking: 6-8 miles +/- 1,300 feet
Accommodation: UnderCanvas Yellowstone or similar in West Yellowstone, Montana
This morning we will say goodbye to our West Yellowstone home and explore the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone area of the park. This portion of Yellowstone provides some of the most unique geological features and provides amazing views of the park’s most impressive waterfalls. After hiking, we will venture through the Hayden Valley for lunch and have a chance to see some of Yellowstone’s largest herds of Bison. Before departing the park, we will be sure to knock off a couple more iconic features before heading south towards Grand Teton National Park and to our great lodge accommodation in downtown Jackson Hole, WY.
Driving time: 3 Hours
Hiking: 3-5 miles +/- 400 feet elevation gain
Accommodation: Snow King Resort or similar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Start the day out with a hot breakfast before we set out on an included scenic biking ride towards the famous Tetons. Starting from Jackson, we will drive to the launch point to set you free on your bicylces!
After lunch, we will enter into Grand Teton National Park to explore the Jenny Lake area for a self-guided hike around the lake for some of the best views of Teewinot Mountain (12,326 ft.) and the famous Grand Teton (13,776 ft.). After our full day of adventure, we will return to Jackson for our last night’s included meal.
Driving time: Local
Hiking: 3-4 miles +/- 300 feet elevation gain
Accommodation: Snow King Resort or similar in Jackson Hole, Wyoming
We will check out of our lodge this morning before heading back to the Tetons for one last hike to a very picturesque lake. This hike generally takes a couple of hours and is far less visited than other areas. For lunch, we will visit one of our favorite places in the Greater Teton/Jackson area before beginning our drive back to Salt Lake City. Estimated time of return is generally around 19:00 (7:00pm) local time.
