Experience the incredible diversity of Olympic National Park on this 5-day lodging adventure. Journey from rugged Pacific coastline to ancient temperate rainforests, alpine meadows, snow-capped mountain vistas, and crystal-clear lakes — all in one unforgettable trip. Highlights include Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, the Hoh Rainforest, Ruby Beach, and Lake Quinault, showcasing the best of one of America’s most unique national parks, paired with expert-guided experiences and exceptional lodging along the way.
You’ll stay at the storied Lake Crescent Lodge (runner-up for USA Today’s Best National Park Lodge) and the oceanfront Kalaloch Lodge (voted one of the top 10 Best Resorts in the American West by Travel + Leisure).
Depart from our gateway hotel near SeaTac and begin our journey west into Olympic National Park. We’ll make our way across the Olympic Peninsula toward Hurricane Ridge, an alpine landscape of sweeping mountain views, wildflower meadows, and rugged peaks — a fitting first taste of everything Olympic has to offer.
This afternoon, we’ll enjoy our first hike of the trip before continuing toward Lake Crescent. Carved by glaciers and ringed by towering forest, the lake’s clear blue water sets a peaceful tone for the evening. After arriving at our lodge, guests will have time to relax and take in the lakeside setting.
Driving Time: 4 hours
Hiking: Hurricane Ridge Area Trail | 2–4 miles | 300–800 feet elevation gain
Accommodation: Lake Crescent Lodge or Sol Duc Lodge (or similar)
Meals Included: Lunch & Dinner
This morning we’ll hike from Lake Crescent to Marymere Falls, a 90-foot cascade tucked beneath towering trees, following a trail that winds through classic Olympic rainforest along the way.
This afternoon, we’ll head into the Sol Duc Valley, hiking through moss-draped forest to Sol Duc Falls, where the river splits into multiple channels and drops through a narrow, forested canyon. Afterward, guests may have the option to relax at Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort before returning to Lake Crescent for the evening.
Driving Time: 1.5 hours
Hiking: Marymere Falls & Sol Duc Falls | 4–6 miles | Minimal elevation gain
Accommodation: Lake Crescent Lodge or Sol Duc Lodge (or similar)
Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
After breakfast, we’ll set out on a guided sea kayaking trip on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, keeping an eye out for marine wildlife along the way. With the Olympic Mountains rising in the distance and the coastline close at hand, it’s a vantage point on the park you won’t get from land.
Following our kayaking adventure, we’ll travel west toward the rugged Pacific coastline. As we leave the mountains behind, the landscape transforms into windswept beaches, towering sea stacks, and dramatic ocean views. This evening, we’ll explore Ruby Beach, one of Olympic’s most iconic coastal destinations, where massive driftwood logs, tide pools, and crashing waves create an unforgettable Pacific Northwest experience. After exploring, we’ll check in to our second property, Kalaloch Lodge, located right on the Pacific Ocean, and unwind with a nice dinner.
Please note: If conditions on the Strait of Juan de Fuca aren’t favorable, we’ll opt for a guided kayak adventure on Lake Crescent instead.
Driving Time: 3 hours
Activity: Guided Sea Kayaking | Approximately 3 hours
Hiking: Ruby Beach Exploration | 1–3 miles | Minimal elevation gain
Accommodation: Kalaloch Lodge (or similar)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today pairs two very different sides of the park. We’ll start in the Hoh Rainforest, one of the largest temperate rainforests in the country, hiking the Hall of Mosses and nearby trails through towering trees and dense, layered vegetation.
This afternoon, we’ll head to the coast to explore Second Beach. A short forest trail opens onto a dramatic shoreline of sea stacks and driftwood, with sweeping ocean views in every direction. After exploring the coast, we’ll return to Kalaloch Lodge for our final evening along the Pacific.
Driving Time: 2.5–3 hours
Hiking: Hoh Rainforest & Second Beach | 5–7 miles | Minimal elevation gain
Accommodation: Kalaloch Lodge (or similar)
Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
Before leaving the park, we’ll spend time in the Lake Quinault area, a quieter corner of Olympic surrounded by old-growth forest, moss-covered trails, and calm lakeshore views — a fitting last stop before heading home.
We’ll enjoy a final guided hike through the Quinault rainforest before beginning our return journey to the Seattle area. As we cross back over the peninsula, there’s time to reflect on a trip that took us from alpine ridgelines to glacier-fed lakes, ancient forest, and the open Pacific coast.
Driving Time: 4–4.5 hours
Activity: Lake Quinault Area Trail | 3–5 miles | Minimal elevation gain
Meals Included: Breakfast & Lunch
