The town of Moab, Utah, is one of America’s premier adventure destinations, offering close proximity to inspiring public lands and unmatched red rock landscapes. From sunrise to sunset, our 5-day itinerary highlights the very best of Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, along with many of the area’s hidden gems. This hiking-focused adventure ends each night at the same campsite—our basecamp—carefully selected to minimize driving so we can spend more time exploring!

Day 1 begins with a scenic drive from Salt Lake City to Moab for a picnic lunch and an introductory hike on BLM trails featuring arches, natural bridges, and desert wildlife. After setting up basecamp, Day 2 is devoted to Arches National Park, exploring the Windows Section, Devil’s Garden, Landscape Arch, and the iconic Delicate Arch before enjoying time in Moab and returning to camp.

Day 3 takes you to the remote Needles District of Canyonlands, a quiet region known for its colorful Cedar Mesa Sandstone spires. After a half-day hike through its unique formations, we return to Moab for dinner. Day 4 explores the Island in the Sky District, including Mesa Arch, Grand View Point, Upheaval Dome, and a visit to Dead Horse Point State Park for sweeping views of the Colorado River.

Day 5 features one final Moab adventure on a classic BLM trail—often the Corona Arch hike—where a massive natural arch stands tucked into the red rock cliffs. After enjoying time beneath the arch, we continue toward Green River for a local lunch before traveling north and returning to Salt Lake City by late afternoon, wrapping up an unforgettable week in Utah’s red rock country.
NIGHTS 1-4
Our scenic group campsites in Moab are most often located along the banks of the Colorado River or perched high on the mesa in the Island in the Sky district of Canyonlands. Nestled in canyon country and close to national parks, you’ll appreciate the remote setting—even if it means going without showers for one night. On Days 2–4, you’ll have access to showers in the town of Moab. These Moab campgrounds are a guide favorite!
