Justin grew up in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. He spent his twenties working with his hometown fire department and learned the importance of community, team building and safety. He graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a bachelors in LRTM Hospitality (Lodging, Restaurant and Tourism Management). He moved to Boulder, Colorado after graduating and began diving into the natural world. There he grew a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
His desire to learn from the land challenged him to take on the John Muir Trail in the High Sierra’s of California. This multi-week thru-hike fueled his interest in learning new cultures and he found himself traveling overseas to New Zealand. He remained abroad for two years learning sustainability, permaculture, backpacking and vanlife.
Upon returning to the United States, Justin moved into Wilderness Therapy with companies based out of Utah and the Big Island of Hawai’i. There he developed a love working in direct care with adolescent teens and teaching outdoor education from a therapeutic approach.
Based out of Salt Lake City, he continues to share his love for the outdoors as a trip leader with the Mountain Based team. You most likely will find him in the desert or mountains spending time with his husky pup.
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir
